Serifos is an island with craggy mining sites, a wonderful past, and its own distinct character. The tranquillity of its scenery is splendor and it has some of the most stunning beaches on the Aegean Sea.
The island’s infrastructure was created in the traditional manner, in accordance with the local architectural style; white-washed tiny buildings with blue-colored frames on the windows, add to the attractiveness of the natural surroundings. Until the end of the 17th century pirate attacks were very common in the Cyclades, and Chora, the capital of the island is strategically located upon the hill to overlook the bay. The Castle of Serifos is located a brief walk away from Chora and was built by the Venetians around the 15th century. It provides stunning views of the vast blue sky that dives into the sea.
