Antiparos is a Cycladic island that mixes beauty with history and archaeological interest, nightlife with leisure and serenity, daring walks on extraordinary beautiful nature routes with water sports. It is located only in a short distance from Paros and the islands are connected by ferry. It’s probably no surprise that the Greek word ‘anti’ means ‘opposite’ and the latter name of the island is taken from its location. Oliaros was Antiparos’ ancient name. A significant Neolithic village has been discovered on the neighboring islet of Saliagos, which is thought to be one of the oldest in Cyclades.

With its natural beauty and characteristic Cycladic color, tranquil and modest Antiparos earns its reputation as one of the most scenic and alluring Aegean islands. As you disembark at its charming harbor you will notice the exquisite ambience of the island, whitewashed cottages with blue brushstrokes, cobbled alleyways with bougainvillea and eucalyptus, and an overpowering feeling of positivity and alluring energy. Its 57 – kilometer coastline is lined with chapels, a Venetian fortress erected by the Venetians in the mid-15th century, and its scenery bewitching scenery, which is strewn with beaches, caves, and charming coves.

Antiparos, like the rest of the Cyclades, provides a variety of spectacular beaches. The island boasts calm seas and sandy beaches on its east side, which faces Paros, and limestone cliffs and sea caves on its west side. The bays, whether sandy or rocky, shallow or deep, protected or with heavy waves, provide opportunities for both leisure and marine fun with water sports like kite surfing.

Antiparos Cave is one of Europe’s largest vertical caves, at a depth of roughly 100 meters. The cave offers breathtaking view and has the most beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, including the oldest stalactite in Europe, which is estimated to be 45 million years old. According to archaeological artifacts and engravings found inside, the majestic cave has been known since the Stone Age. Over the years, a number of prominent people, including King Otto of Greece and Lord Byron, have engraved their names on the cave wall. The island also possesses a variety of magnificent sea caves.
